About Online Meetings

Online meetings are particularly helpful to those who cannot get to a local meeting for various reasons. Individuals also find this option favourable when attending a meeting for the first time and not sure what to expect.

Meeting timetable

Before you attend/What you will need

Everyone participating in the online meetings will need speakers or a headset so that they can hear the Facilitator and other participants talking. The simplest way of checking in advance of the meeting whether your speakers will work, is to visit the BBC News website and check if you can hear videos. If you cannot hear these, you will need help with your computer before coming to the meeting. If you can hear, but do not have a microphone, you can still participate using text.

Local On-Line Meetings

We also have local UK SMART on-line meetings on the BBB and Zoom platforms. Please click on the following link for a list of those meetings and details on how to attend. SA6 V2.0 – Open Local SMART On-line Meetings – JP200720 These local meetings are open to all SMART attendees in the UK. Please note that local meetings may have their own meeting guidelines that we ask you to observe. The information on the above link was correct at time of last update (01/07/20). Please check back for occasional updates to meeting times and links.

International Meetings

Just because someone is based in the UK, doesn’t mean you can’t access other SMART Meetings across the world. For additional international SMART Meetings, please check out SMART International Meetings. Local time differences will apply.

Problems in Accessing Meetings and Meeting Cancellations

Please note that our online meetings are facilitated by volunteers.  Whilst they do all they can to avoid cancellations sometimes this is unavoidable.

If you are struggling to login then you need to ensure the room is open. If you have not been given the ‘guest’ option then the room has not been opened yet. Did you check for cancellation notices? Have you got the time right?

If you get a blank screen when you try and access the meeting, then check you have Adobe Flash installed, you probably already have but it might be out of date. Use this Adobe site to check whether it is installed and up to date.

Check your browser – we recommend Google Chrome.

If you want to access a meeting by either Smartphone or Tablet, you need to download an app called “Adobe Connect” which is free of charge. The link to the app is below….
