The main focus of our training is to help meeting participants deepen their knowledge of the SMART tools, methods and underlying theories.

We also provide additional training for Volunteers who wish to set up their own Community Meeting and to Professionals who wish to use the Programme within an organisational setting.

Introduction to SMART Recovery

This introductory course provides an overview of UK SMART Recovery and the SMART Recovery Programme. The course is made up of video’s, reading, and a short quiz.

Who should complete: Those considering attending a meeting, family and friends of someone with an addictive behaviour, professionals who are implementing the Programme within their organisation or considering doing so, anyone with a general interest in the SMART Recovery Programme.  Everyone working towards the SMART Recovery Facilitator Certificate.

Eligibility: You must be a UK resident

Estimated time to complete: 1 hour

Getting SMART

Carrying on from the introductory course, this course introduces the SMART Recovery tools, methods and underlying theories and demonstrates how they can be applied to your own life experience. The course is made up of video’s, reading, worksheets and quizzes.

Who should complete: Meeting participants who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the SMART tools, family and friends of someone with an addictive behaviour, professionals who are implementing the Programme within their organisation, everyone working towards the SMART Recovery Facilitator Certificate.

Eligibility: You must be a UK resident

Estimated time to complete: 8 – 10 hours

SMART Recovery Facilitator Certificate

The SMART Recovery Facilitator Training Certificate is designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge of SMART Recovery and its 4-Point Programme for you to proceed capably, comfortably (and authoritatively) in your role as a SMART Recovery meeting Facilitator.

Who should complete: It is a requirement of all our meeting Facilitators to complete this course before they start to facilitate a SMART Recovery or Family & Friends Meeting.

Eligibility:

You must reside in the UK, have successfully completed Introduction to SMART Recovery and Getting SMART and either: –

a)   An approved UK SMART Recovery Volunteer

or

b)   A staff member, volunteer or service user nominated to undertake the training by an organisation licensed under our Partnership Scheme

Estimated time to complete: 10 hours

SMART Family & Friends Facilitator Certificate

SMART Recovery for Family & Friends (F & F) provides support and tools for people who are affected by the addictive behaviour of someone close to them.  The Programme aims to help participants develop more effective coping strategies and find a greater sense of fulfilment in their own lives.

This Training Course is designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge of the F & F Programme for you to proceed capably, comfortably (and authoritatively) in your role as a F & F Meeting Facilitator.

Who should complete: It is a requirement of all our F & F meeting Facilitators to complete this course before they start to facilitate a SMART Family & Friends Meeting.

Eligibility:

You must reside in the UK, have successfully completed the SMART Recovery Facilitator Course SMART and either: –

a)   An approved UK SMART Recovery Volunteer

or

b)   A staff member, volunteer or service user nominated to undertake the training by an organisation licensed under our Partnership Scheme

IN-HOUSE TRAINING

In-house training can be arranged for staff, volunteers and service users from sites licensed through our Partnership Scheme.  This option is useful for those looking to train larger groups (usually 6 – 12 individuals). Contact us for more information or download a booking form here.
