SMART Recovery in the News
We’re delighted to see SMART Recovery featured in a new programme at University Hospital of North Tees, supporting patients to build the skills and confidence needed to overcome addiction. By offering regular SMART meetings within a hospital setting, the programme is giving people practical, evidence-based tools for managing urges, emotions and long-term recovery — and showing how SMART can work alongside other treatment and support options. A great example of SMART principles making a real difference in healthcare settings.
SMART Recovery at the Managing Addictions in Primary Care Conference 2026
We’re excited to share that SMART Recovery is well represented at the RCGP Managing Addictions in Primary Care Conference on 26–27 February 2026! Two of our abstracts have been accepted: the Friends & Family film and a poster presentation by Charlie and Danny on tackling opioid overprescribing. These showcase SMART’s approach and real-world impact, with the aim of increasing awareness and uptake of our licences and training — and, most importantly, encouraging stronger referral pathways from GPs to mutual aid support.
