Goodbye Jeni!
Our North East and Yorkshire Community Coordinator, Jeni Langley, has had a very busy but enjoyable final week working for SMART Recovery. She ended last week at a fabulous Christmas event held at Brunswick Church as part of Newcastle’s Inclusive Recovery City initiative called ‘Revival’, which offers the opportunity for council members, recovery services, charities, LEROS (Lived Experience Recovery Organisations) those with lived experience and affected others to get together and promote/celebrate recovery.
She then kicked off this week by attending South Tyneside Council’s ‘A Better U’ Christmas drop-in at Cleadon Park Library in South Shields, where ‘The Damjammers’ ukelele band were in residence providing the soundtrack to the delicious soup and mince pies!
Finally, she was honoured to be invited to the 4th meeting of the North East Inclusive Recovery Region, hosted by the wonderful PROPS (https://props.org.uk/) and Professor David Best. Despite being so close to Christmas, there was a really good turnout with commissioners from across the region as well as representatives from the LEROs and charities: Recovery Connections, Recovery College Collective, Road to Recovery Trust, Social Inclusion through Sport, PROPS and of course, SMART Recovery. 😊
