Volunteer Recognition Awards

SMART Recovery’s programme is made possible by the dedication of volunteers across the UK, Ireland, and Isle of Man from meeting facilitating, to fundraising, to social media campaigns. Every week, they empower people to change their lives and transform the public conversation about recovery and addictive behaviours. So we’re launching our first-ever SMART Recovery UK and Ireland Volunteer Recognition Awards sponsored by Start360 to recognise them on Monday, 30th September 2024 via Zoom. SMART Recovery Meeting Registrations

We have recently started receiving an increase in SMART Recovery meetings registrations. This also includes Family and Friends meetings which is great to see. It’s important that all SMART Recovery meetings are registered with us, even if they aren’t being shown on our website, such as in prisons. Registering meetings ensures we are able to keep track of meetings across the UK, keep in touch and support Facilitators where required. It also helps to ensure resources are placed where most needed, and helps us to identify any gaps in the network. It also ensures you receive your Meeting Starter Pack of leaflets, posters, a handbook and a t shirt.

If your meetings haven’t been registered, please get these registered as soon as possible by contacting your local Community Coordinator or by contacting Central Office on [email protected].

North East Activities

Our North East and Yorkshire Community Coordinator, Jeni Langley had a busy few days in the North East. The first instalment was the Newcastle Recovery Conference showcasing the project ‘Revival Newcastle’, working towards making Newcastle and Inclusive Recovery City.

Huge thanks to all the wonderful presenters on the day and a special mention to the marvellous Steve Wood and Louisa Baily for organising such a fantastic event.

Instalment 2 was a quick change and off to the North East Charity Awards.  A big thank you to Dot Smith and all the team Recovery Connections for the invitation and great company.

The final instalment was the wonderful Gateshead Recovery Walk. The weather held off and everyone had a brilliant day walking up the length of the River Tyne.

Thank you to all the team Recovery Connections Gateshead for organising such a fantastic event. Jeni is now off for a long lie down before she hits Yorkshire next week…
