SMART Recovery UK and Ireland Volunteer Recognition Awards recognise and celebrate the successful and inspirational people within the SMART Recovery community. Since 1995, UK SMART Recovery and their volunteers have worked tirelessly towards making a difference in supporting others maintain their recovery. SMART Recovery UK and Ireland Volunteer Recognition Awards symbolise the hard work, passion and dedication that SMART Facilitators exhibit in their communities. These awards are open to all SMART Recovery Facilitators in the UK, Ireland, and Isle of Man.

Nominations

SMART Recovery UK and Ireland Volunteer Recognition Awards cover the following categories:
• Significant Achievement Award. This category is for someone who has accomplished a significant achievement in the last year, such as running their 1000th meeting. It could be someone who has set up a new, successful SMART Recovery meeting or someone who demonstrates excellence in the development of peer facilitators.

• Volunteer of the Year Award. This category is for someone who provides an expectational level of service and dedication to SMART Recovery and the SMART community.

• Ambassador Award. This category is a special recognition for a team, recovery service, or individual who is contributing significantly to the SMART community.

• Campaigner of the Year Award. This category is for someone who stands out in promoting SMART Recovery through social or traditional media, at events and in their local community and/or someone who drives fundraising efforts.

Criteria
All SMART Recovery Facilitators in the UK, Ireland, and Isle of Man are eligible. A panel of judges will evaluate the submissions. Shortlisted nominees will be invited to the SMART Recovery UK and Ireland Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony held in September 2025. The deadline for nominations is Friday, 8th June 2025 at 17:00 GMT.

Who can be nominated for a SMART Recovery UK and Ireland Volunteer Recognition Award?

Any fully trained SMART Facilitator within the UK, Ireland, and Isle of Man can be nominated for an award.

Can I nominate a SMART Recovery Facilitator who works at my local substance misuse service or who works for an organisation providing support to those in recovery?

Yes, any fully trained SMART Facilitator within the UK, Ireland or Isle of Man can be nominated for an award. They can be an employee or volunteer at a service provider or an organisation

Can I nominate myself for an award?

No, you cannot nominate yourself.  Nominations should be submitted by either your meeting participants or colleagues at a service provider or organisation.

Can I nominate more than one SMART Facilitator for an award?

You can nominate as many SMART Facilitators as you like, but you will need to complete a separate nomination form for each individual.

How can I nominate a SMART Facilitator for an award if I am unable to fill out the nomination form online?

Please send an email with your name and phone number to: [email protected]. A member of the Awards Committee will contact you and ask you the questions listed on the nomination form. Your answers will be submitted on your behalf by the member of the Awards Committee.

What is the last day that I can submit my award nominations?

Nominations will close on Friday, 8th June 2024 at 17:00 GMT.
