SMART Recovery for Family & Friends (F & F) provides support and tools for people who are affected by the addictive behaviour of someone close to them. The Programme aims to help participants develop more effective coping strategies and find a greater sense of fulfilment in their own lives.
This Training Course is designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge of the F & F Programme for you to proceed capably, comfortably (and authoritatively) in your role as a F & F Meeting Facilitator.
It is a requirement of all our F & F Meeting Facilitators to complete this training (whether face-to-face or online) before they start to facilitate meetings.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The certificate is made up of 4 courses ‘Introduction to SMART Recovery’, ‘Getting SMART’, SMART Facilitator’ and ‘Family & Friends’. Throughout these courses you will be required to review activities such as video presentations and lectures, reading materials, and complete training exercises, quizzes and (in the final course) submit assignments. All of the training materials (including worksheets) are provided online so there is no requirement to purchase additional course materials, however some find it useful to purchase a copy of the Family & Friends Handbook.
In addition to completing the training you should plan to attend five SMART F & F meetings before starting to facilitate – if there are no meetings near to you then you can attend our weekly online meeting held every Monday at 7.30 PM.
