We are still recruiting and I can confirm that the deadline for applications has been extended to the 30th June at 5pm. See below advert for information on our new roles which are available.
UK SMART Recovery supports academic research, and we would like to draw your attention to a PhD being undertaken by Mr Kevin Mcinerney at the University of Derby. He is studying the psychosocial characteristics and the role of Meaning and Purpose in late onset problem drinking. Participants do not have to have a formal diagnosis of alcohol use disorder. Problematic alcohol use in older people is understudied and research like this can help to improve the knowledge base and level of understanding around this population so that people can get more effective help. The research adopts mixed methods and initially will involve participants completing a 10-minute online survey about their own experience and relationship with alcohol. Additionally, participants can opt into being contacted by Kevin about the second phase, a 121 conversation around specific questions, like a very informal interview conversation with the questions shown in advance. We would be grateful if you could share this opportunity within your network as this population is difficult to recruit and we are keen to generate more research like this in the UK. Thanks in advance for any hep you can give.
